Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 07, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit this website, how it is used, and your rights with respect to that information. This site is a personal blog owned and operated by Gordon Bannon (United States). It publishes original code, how-to tutorials, and technical articles. It is not a commercial product or service.
1. Information You Provide
Contact Form
The contact page includes a form that collects your name, email address, and message. When submitted, this information is transmitted as a push notification to a self-operated server at simplescales.net. It is used solely to respond to your message and is not stored in any database or shared with third parties.
Newsletter (Planned)
A newsletter sign-up may be added in the future. If and when that feature goes live, this policy will be updated to describe what information is collected, how it is stored, and how to unsubscribe. No newsletter is currently active.
2. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit this site, Cloudflare — the hosting and content delivery provider — automatically logs standard HTTP request data including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, and the page requested. This data is collected by Cloudflare as part of normal infrastructure operation and is governed by Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. It is not used to build individual user profiles and is not retained by Gordon Bannon beyond what Cloudflare stores in its infrastructure logs.
3. Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that operates entirely server-side. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build individual user profiles. Only aggregate, anonymized traffic data (such as page views and referrer sources) is collected. No personally identifiable information is sent to or stored by the analytics service.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
This site sets no tracking or analytics cookies.
The only client-side storage used is your browser’s localStorage, which records your dark or light mode preference so the site remembers your choice between visits. This value never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server.
If you clear your browser’s local storage, the preference will be reset to your operating system default.
5. Third-Party Services
The only third-party company that processes data in connection with this site is:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — provides hosting (Cloudflare Pages), CDN, DDoS protection, and analytics. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and HTTP request metadata as part of delivering the site. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for details.
No advertising networks, social media trackers, or third-party analytics scripts are used.
6. External Links
This site contains a link to simplescales.net, Gordon Bannon’s company website. Clicking that link takes you to a separate site — no data from this site is passed to or shared with it when you navigate away. This site is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of simplescales.net or any other external link.
7. Data Retention
- Contact form messages: Delivered as a push notification and not stored in a database on this site. Retention is subject to the notification infrastructure at simplescales.net, which is personally operated.
- Cloudflare infrastructure logs: Retained per Cloudflare’s standard log retention policies.
- Theme preference: Stored in your browser’s
localStorageonly. Cleared when you clear your browser data.
8. Your Rights
You may:
- Request information about what personal data (if any) is held about you.
- Request deletion of any personal data you submitted via the contact form.
- Withdraw consent or opt out of any future communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact Gordon Bannon at gordonbannon.xw25t@passmail.net. Requests will be acknowledged promptly.
9. Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. Gordon Bannon does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact gordonbannon.xw25t@passmail.net and the information will be deleted.
10. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
